Community Development Services

Community Development Services help individuals learn new skills and keep the skills they currently have related to their individual goals and outcomes. Services promote community engagement including:

  • activities, events, and places with people who do not have disabilities

  • building and maintaining skills for community independence

  • use of transportation options

  • developing work- based skills and interests

  • learning socially acceptable behavior

  • self-advocacy skills

  • building and strengthening relationships in the community

The service may also include participating in advocacy activities, local events, classes, and volunteering.

CDS is a community-based program, and is not provided at home or an agency facility. Individuals should be engaging in the community throughout the CDS service hours. Community Development Services are limited to 40 hours maximum per week.
